Rev. Shinsuke Hosokawa
Head priest of Ryu-unji Temple (Myoshinji school, Rinzai sect of Zen). In charge of propagating the teachings of the Myoshinji school. Vice-Principal of Rinzai sect, Myoshinji school Tokyo Zen Centre.
Born in Setagaya, Tokyo. Grandson of the late Matsubara Taido, head priest of Ryugenji Temple (Myoshinji school, Rinzai sect of Zen).
Completed a master’s course in Buddhist studies at the Graduate School of Letters, Hanazono University. Undertook nine years of Zen training at the specialized training centre in Myoshinji Temple, Kyoto. Currently, head priest of Ryu-unji Temple (Myoshinji school, Rinzai sect of Zen), located in Setagaya, Tokyo. In charge of propagating the teachings of the Myoshinji school. Vice-Principal of Rinzai sect, Myoshinji school Tokyo Zen Centre.

Other activities include: Advisor regarding Zen for the year-long TV taiga drama Onna Joshu Naotora (NHK); Dialogue with Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki, Nagomi (Tankosha); Responsible for program on Rinzai meditation for TV series Shumidoki (NHK).
