After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, Keio University in 2005, Taishu worked as a psychiatrist at the Department of Neuropsychiatry, Keio University Hospital and the National Hospital Organization Kurihama Medical and Addiction Center. In 2011, he started practicing Zen at Kenchoji Dojo. Since 2014, he has been the Chief Priest at Rinkoji Temple, Kenchoji School of Rinzai Zen Buddhism.
At present, in addition to his duties at the temple, he works at clinics in Tokyo and Yokohama, where he actively incorporates Zen and mindfulness practices into medication treatment and conventional psychotherapy. He is promoting mindfulness and compassion through writing books, supervising remote study materials, developing apps, and appearing in media.
