The Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania
Born in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture; now 64 years old. Due to the transfer of his father, an officer of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, he spent kindergarten and early elementary school years in Gotemba and Kumamoto, then completed his primary and university education in Tokyo. After graduating from university, he joined Nomura Securities and was involved in the financial services industry at Nomura Group until his retirement last September. He has previously participated in the ZEN2.0 international conference at Kenchoji Temple. In September of last year, he was appointed Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania, a post he assumed the following October. Lithuania is a small country with a population of 2.7 million, but it is at the forefront of today’s geopolitical dynamics. Throughout the short span of the 19th and 20th centuries, Lithuania was first formed as a nation-state and was subsequently a key target of armed conflict and occupation. It is currently undergoing a wave of great historical change.
